For this week, I began to draft sketches and took it to my first crit for feedback and inspiration from my peers. I was lucky enough to have gotten along with my group and it felt more comfortable to share my work with them and talk them through my ideas.

My Pinterest board of inspiration can be located here. One of the biggest feedbacks I’ve received from my peer group is to consider making use of typography and incorporating that into my work, perhaps it could depict themes that I couldn’t quite convey. Because of this, I looked into how typography can be manipulated as an image and/or how different typefaces and shapes can mean something else.

Because of this, I was inspired to create my work and drew a mind map of design concepts I can explore.

I had also looked into both Guest Lectures of this week, and what I agree with all of them in common is that globalisation is a good thing and we ought to embrace it, as learning about other cultures and cross-referencing them in our work encourages innovation and the birth of new ideas. A multi-cultural working culture is something I want to be a part of and strive to be a part of. This in particular, does interest me in Pearlfisher’s work, as they also do motion graphics which is something I want to explore and I’m eager to learn more about.
